It has been my honor to represent you in the State Senate over these past six years. During this global economic crisis I have worked with Republicans and Democrats to balance our budget and protect our children, seniors and working families. Connecticut's problems require putting partisan politics aside to create jobs, rebuild our economy and strengthen public education.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have, and thank you for your continued support.

Fighting for You
Fought to maintain state educational aid to cities and towns and increase federal funding for infrastructure.

Worked with local businesses to obtain property tax abatements they deserve but were denied by local tax assessors due to technical failures.

Helped non-profits obtain grant funds for urban farming performed by veterans, producing fresh produce for the city and jobs for veterans.

Secured funding for local needs, including:

* $90,000 for a generator for the Nichols Fire District
* $210,000 for flood control efforts in Bridgeport's North End
* $375,000 for Hillcrest pool repairs

Road paving money specifically for Main Street

* $250,000 for RYASAP youth services in the Burroughs Community Center
* $125,000 grant for The Boys & Girls Village in Black Rock for facility renovations and improvements
* $75,000 for Bridgeport's Safe Asleep free smoke detector program
* $25,000 for a new Trumbull senior center kitchen
Building Consensus
Successfully passed the majority of my proposed legislation in the Senate with unanimous bipartisan support.
Fought for a constitutional amendment to make it easier for our service men and women on active duty to vote.
Initiated bipartisan legislation to relieve costly regulatory burdens on businesses that violate technical regulations if they fix the problems within 30 days.
Supported legislation sponsored by the Governor to cut spending and balance the budget.
Getting Results
Supported the successful job creation tax credit.
Advocated for reinvestments in brownfields that increase property values and revitalize neighborhoods.
Secured state sales tax financing to improve Steele Point - three times.
